Well today Caitie got her ears pierced. She has been asking me patiently for almost 2 weeks when she could do this. Nathan and I decided we would take her today, let her talk to the people who do this and decide if she still wanted to do it. Well, she hardly blinked an eye and was very determined, so up in the chair she went, and after she was up there, wanted to sit on my lap while they pierced her. She picked out pink daisies with a white center and barely flinched when it happened. She didn't cry, just got down and went to go look at more earrings! She hasn't been able to keep the smile off of her face since then. Our little girl is growing up!!

May 30th - Wow again!

2 Months later and I can see I haven't kept my word on keeping up on this. So much to do, so little time. There have been so many funny stories to share, I hope I can remember them all. The funniest that sticks out in my memory is the "Knuckle Sandwich" story. Nathan had gone to extreme measures one night for dinner, preparing some Filets, gourmet mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Caitie, a usual carnivore, was not impressed and kept saying she wanted to eat "something else". Nathan, finally exasperated, asked her if she would like a "knuckle sandwich" completely joking, of course. She thought for a moment and then asked "can I get cheese on that?" She looked a little wounded when we just laughed, but I am sure she will get over it eventually. Imagine our delight and surprise when we stopped for sandwiches at a deli in Cedar City and they had Knuckle sandwiches on the menu and they even came with cheese! This is one for the books!

2009 update

Wow! I can't believe it is already March! I have had great intentions of updating but I guess it has just gotten away from me. We had a wonderful Christmas, three different celebrations and each one was great. We spent lots of time with family, both near and far. So far this new year has brought with it a lot of changes as our little girl grows up day by day. She keeps astounding Nathan and I with her many comments and thoughts. Her reasoning and sharp mind provide ample opportunities for us to be in awe of this little person who has so enriched our lives. Recently, she told me we should wait to talk about something "until Saturday when she is a grown-up". Somedays, even though she is only 3, it feels like she is not far from leaving the nest and striking out on her own. I know the time will pass more quickly than I can imagine, even now. Just the other day we were shopping at the mall and she found a bra that she wanted me to get her! I thought I would have at least another 10 years until we had that particular conversation! Right now, Mama Mia is still her favorite music to listen to, although for my sanity, we are trying out some new music. I think she loves it so much because she can sing along to the entire soundtrack. Her favorite night-time stall before bed is to snuggle up with me and talk about everything that happened during the day. I love this time with her and can never say no, no matter how late. She always comes up with something that we didn't find to talk about earlier. Oh, well. Enough for tonight. I will keep updating with current items on a more frequent basis.

Snow day!!
We actually had a snow day here in Vegas! Schools were closed and everyone had so much fun playing and making snowmen. Caitie got to sled down a tiny hill in our front yard and throw snowballs at Mom. We had a blast!
